In kiwi bank there are basically four types of everyday account. They are free up, now account, front runner and bill blaster. Free up account is for those who use frequently online banking. In this account the transaction fee is not charged. Now account is a standard every day account with a different choice of fee plans. Front runner account is account providing high interest rate and no transaction fee or a monthly fee if balance is maintained $4000 or higher. It can be set up across four account with their combined balance to $4000 for benefits. The last one Bill blaster is a custom built bill account that works alongside Free up, Now or Front runner account. This account helps you to calculate your bill and indicates the amount you should keep aside for bill payment.

You can open any account using one of the three ways:
1) Online
2) By Phone
3) At local kiwi bank
For opening an account online, go to http://www.kiwibank.co.nz/personal-banking/everyday-banking/ and click on any account type. It will give in brief the benefits of that account. In the “Begin the joining process”, click on online. There are four pages to be filled. In the first Account Selection, select the account type and the select for whom the account is to be opened. It can be an individual, combined, business or for a trust. It will ask if you are an existing member or not. Select the appropriate option. If you select the not an existing customer option click on the next page link. In the second page Personal Details, fill all the details and click next. In the third page ways to bank, choose your card type. It can be visa debit card which is like a standard atm card but can be used online, over the phone, email and overseas. The other option is ATM card. Next select internet banking, phone banking and mobile and txt banking any option or combination that is suitable to you. Next select the way through which you would like to receive statement either internet ( PDF/XML using net banking) or email. Next select any extra optional from Pay stream, Sweep and txt & email alert.  Pay stream deposits a small portion  of electronic deposits like pay cheque to your saving account as soon as the deposits are made. Sweeps transfers surplus money in any account to saving account or sweep back into  an account when the balance is low. TXT and email alerts allows you to notify for every transaction made, or when balance is low than a certain amount. Next agree the terms and conditions and click next. In the last page Application summary, verify the details you filled up and click on submit to send the details for processing. The bank will give you a call to confirm the next steps.
To open an account by phone give a call on 0800 11 33 55 the bank will take you through the application process. Keep your driving license or a passport for id proof.
You can directly go to a kiwi bank and open an new account. in case you are a new customer carry passport, driving license or ATM card with your name & signature for id proof. You also need a bank statement or a utility bill (not older than a year) with your name and address as your address proof.

For choosing a credit card, there is similar process like opening a bank account. You can do it online, local bank or through phone.
